In this blog I share with you a guided meditation story entitled The Land of Happily Ever After.  Included with this story is the script for the story and the recording of the story.  There is also a detailed reflection on the lines from the riddle included in the story.  At the end of the blog there is shared with you the answer to the riddle.

One of the ways in which I begin my morning is to explore writing a guided meditation story. With many guided meditations there is the guiding aspect but there is not the storytelling aspect.  I write both ways.  Writing a guided meditation story is more challenging.

It takes on average a week to write a decent guided meditation story.  This is about half and hour each day first thing in the morning.  To begin I usually select a theme. For the guided meditation story that I share below I chose the theme of “overthinking.”  This is an issue for most people and a serious issue for others.

Guided Meditation Story – The Land of Happily Ever After

Once upon a time before time ever was there was the Land of Happily Ever After where one could have the time of your life except that the land of Happily Ever After wasn’t in the realm of time and it was before you ever where.

This is a forgotten land only told of only in magical tales when the those looking for happiness go on a journey and receive the Secret of Secrets inside them.

In the Timeless world of Happily Ever After the people have whatever they wish except that in the Land of Happily Ever After no one wants for anything because each in their own way is the expression that which is Everything. In the Land of Happily Ever After there was no lack.

Then one day it happened. It was the day when always enough did not feel at all enough. No one knows why this happened just that it did happen and now the Land of Happily Ever After is shrouded in the Mist of Forgetting. Before the Mist of Forgetting two giants bar the way into the Land of Happily Ever After. One giant is called Ruminor. The other Giant is called Affirmia

There is a way to enter the Land of Happily Ever After and that is to answer the riddle that the giants put before anyone who dares to try to progress beyond the mist into the Land of Happily Ever After.  The giant Ruminor says the riddle one time and then there is a pause.

In a circle I’m bound where moments flow.

Too a circle of heart where stillness grows.

I speak not a word yet all can hear

What am I that’s neither there nor here.

Then the giant Afirmia says the riddle one more time and again there is a pause.

In a circle I’m bound where moments flow.

Too a circle of heart where stillness grows.

I speak not a word yet all can hear

What am I that’s neither there nor here.

They turn a large egg shaped timer that stands before The Mist of Forgetting.  The one who must answer the riddle watches as the sands of time flow through from one level to the other.

In the realm of Time the seconds tick away. There are only ten such seconds in which to give an answer. If the answer isn’t forthcoming or is incorrect our hero finds themselves not beyond the mist but in the desert.  It is the desert of Unending Thought that takes you farther away from the Land of Happily Everafter.

The question and the quest you are invited to take is “Will you take the adventure even if the risk is that you end up in the Desert of Unending Thought where you will live not so happily ever after.”  The choice is yours.

You have ten seconds from the time you hear the sound of the gong to answer the riddle.

In a circle I’m bound where moments flow.

Too a circle of heart where stillness grows.

I speak not a word yet all can hear

What am I that’s neither there no here.

The answer to the riddle is at the end of this blog but I recommend you first read the reflection on this guided meditation story “The Land of Happily Everafter.”

Reflection on Guided Meditation Story

One of the ingredients of any guided meditation story that I love to include is a quotation from a mystic.  The mystic KNOWS the language of the heart and is always inviting the reader or the listener to the revelation of the magnificence that the mystic KNOWS is within themselves and within the reader or listener.  They KNOW that the Secret of Secrets is inside.

The poetic line that is used in this story and which forms the basis of part of the riddle is the line from the mystic Rumi.

Come out of the cirle of time into the cirle of Love – Rumi

Let’s explore each of the lines as per the riddle that the hero is asked to answer if they are to be allowed to proceed beyond the mist into that Timeless dimension where one is grace the KNOWING of that experience referred to in fairytales as “And they lived happily ever after.”

In a circle I’m bound where moments flow

One of the key intentions of writing guided meditation stories is to make you aware of what mystics call the Timeless.  In the Christian tradition this is called “Eternal Life.”  In Irish mythology this is called The Land of Tir Na Nog or the Land of the Forever Young.  In fairy tales it is represented by the ending statement “and they lived happily ever after.”

Notice that in most all of these references there is the reference to “forever” or “ever after.” One essential aspect to recognize that cannot be repeated enough is that “forever” “ever after” or “eternity” is not a long time. It is an experience OUTSIDE of time. The only person who can assert this with confidence is that individual who has been graced such an experience.

Eternity or forever is not a place you get too. It is a state of consciousness that you are. Except that you are not awake to the KNOWING of this state. You might believe in eternal life but that isn’t of any use.  It’s the same as believing in electrity.  Its no use if you are not plugged in.

The riddle that you are to answer begins “In a circle I’m bound where moments flow.” This is what the mystic Rumi calls “The circle of Time.”  Buddhists refer to this as the Wheel of Birth and death. The direct experience of eternity gives you the KNOWING of that state of Being beyond life and death which is your essential nature. When I use the word “KNOWING” this means “having the direct experience.”  It it is not just intellectual knowledge.

This is the invitation of guided meditation stories at least from the way in which this writer designs them and has as their intention  The answer to the riddle tells you HOW TO come out of the cirle of time into the circle of LOVE.

Too a circle of heart where stillness grows.

Here is the secret of the spiritual journey.  You have to abide within the heart centre and allow the stillness to grow inside you where the Secret of Secrets is revealed to you and through you.

This is the greatest invitation.  It is to allow the Stillness to Speak to you and where you get to listen to the guidance from the Still Small Voice from within. This stillness is beyond the overthinking personal mind that is like a badly tuned radio filled with static.

The problem is that within the cirle of time where each and everyone of us abides in order to solve most of our problems we tune into the static and believe that this is where the solution lies.  The mystic and father of nuclear science Albert Enstien said

Quote

You cannot solve a problem at the same level of consciousness with which you created it. – Albert Enstien.

The mystic Rumi invites you to solve your problems by coming out of that state of consciousness that is time bound into the higher state of consciousness that is Timeless.

I speak not a word but all is clear

Here we come to describe the answer to the riddle.  Here we begin to enter the language of paradox which is also the language of the heart.  The heart can encompass duality or opposites which the mind cannot.  When I use the word “heart” I am not writing about the “heart” as featured in a Miles and Boon romantic novel.  The “heart” is that centre that is the doorway to the experience of the Forever.

The riddle invites you to recognize that state where you have stopped speaking.  In fact it goes deeper than this.  You stop thinking. It is thought that keeps you in that dimension that is “The Circle of Time” and bound to the wheel of birth and death.  It isn’t that thought isn’t a great tool but you have become obsessed with its power and lost your connection to the Source that created you to think through you.  The servant (thought) has taken over the Palace (Your Being).

With this clear mind beyond the overthinking personal mind you have Univeral Intelligence in flow through you. The Universe begins to express through you in the way in which it always intended to do so.

What am I that’s neither there no here.

Here you are asked to answer the riddle, “What am I.” The riddle ends with a paradox. The answer is not within space or time.  If you answer correctly then you get the key that will allow you to enter beyond the time bound sense of the personal self.

The answer gives you the key to entry to the “forever” to the “eternal” and to state of “forever young.”  This is not something you can conceptualise.  It is the answer to accessing that dimension where Universal Intelligence operates through you as the personal sense of self you think you are but now you KNOW you are so much more.

All the mystics KNOW the answer.  In the modern world of time and space the answer is not valued. Yet this answer allows you to explore the Presence of Everything.  This is the REAL Secret beyond the Secret called The Law of Attraction.

The Answer to the Riddle

The two giants in this story (which is your story) guard the entrance to that dimension whereby you find true fulfilment. This answer to this riddle invites a way of living that you begin to value and embrace as you recognize its power.  The answer to the riddle is one of the key spiritual practices invited throughout all time and through every tradition.  All the Masters, mystics and Seers have this answer as their foundational approach to living a life of outpouring from the Infinite.

The answer to the riddle of this story is “Silence.” This is also the practice that you are invited to cultivate if you want to return to the Land of Happily Ever After that is beyond the Mist. This is the practice of cultivating inner silence that is beyond words and thoughts and which takes you into living from Presence. The mist is the mist of never ending thoughts and concepts.

Conclusion – A Guided Meditation Story

This concludes the telling of the guided meditation story The Land of Happily Ever After and the reflection on the lines from the riddle that the hero or heroine must answer in order to gain entry to the Land of Happily Ever After beyond the Mist of Forgetting.
